MOST STRIKING FEATURES
In around 1838 British explorer Samuel Baker was discovered Nuwara Eliya as an area with the same climate as England. Then it was developed as a relaxing center for the British colonists. Even today Nuwara Eliya is famous for its' exhilarating climate and best-known city for relaxation and fun related activities in Sri Lanka among both local and foreign tourist. The city becomes alive in the month of April when the flowers are blooming under a cold sunny climate with the beginning of the festive season. During the season Motor racing comes alive with the Mahagastotte and Radella Hill Climbs, horse racing for Governor's Cup at the Nuwara Eliya Racecourse, Golf Tournaments at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Parties held every day nightly in the hotels, and the flower show at the end of the month.
