MOST STRIKING FEATURES
- The Menik Ganga (river of the gem) and Kumbukkan Oya pass through Buttala providing treasure for the area. The riversides of those rivers and the Okkampitiya area close to Buttala are among the hotspots in gem mining in Sri Lanka and famous for the beautiful gemstone.
