Colombo - Sigiriya (6.00 - 9.30 am)

  • You will be picked up from your hotel in Colombo at 6.00 am. Transfer you to Sigiriya. Approximately 3 and a half hours drive.

Sigiriya (9.30 am - 12.30 pm)

  • Sigiriya was no mere fortress, gloomy and forbidding, like the forbidden city of Beijing or Taxila in Pakistan.
  • At the brief height of its glory, no more than 18 years from 477 to 495 AD King Kasyapa built Sigiriya as one of the loveliest cities to have graced the country where the layout of the buildings and gardens is still clearly evident.

Sigiriya - Dambulla (12.30 - 1.00 pm)

  • Transfer you to Dambulla. Approximately half an hour drive.
  • En route visit Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs. These tombs belong to the megaliths prehistoric period between 750-400 BC in Sri Lanka.
  • you will be able to have lunch at a recommended restaurant.

Dambulla (2.30 - 4.00 pm)

  • Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla), the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka is located in a vast isolated rock mass towering 160 m. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding countryside. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, the ceiling of which is one large sweep of colourful paintings, depicting Buddhist mythology and tales of the Buddha’s previous birth. Some of them are over 2000 years old.
