This tour itinerary is planned for those who are interested to experience the significant colonial heritage of the forts, fortifications, and lighthouses in Sri Lanka.

The impregnable exquisite sites of forts and fortifications are showcases the accents of the rich architectural heritage of colonial forefathers which cannot escape the mind of a traveller. Whereas the lighthouses all were built during the British colonial era take you to some mystical adventurous ship voyage of exploring new lands, exotic stiff and shipwrecks.

En-route visit Barberyn Island Lighthouse in Beruwala, one of the 4 international lighthouses in Sri Lanka
10 minutes boat ride from Beruwala coast. You will be able to climb up to the lighthouse. The surrounding view is mesmerizing you.
Then visit the port city of Galle. The Portuguese and the Dutch use Galle as the main seaport on the island. A lot of historical, archaeological, and architectural colonial remains are there in Galle. Of which the Galle Fort, UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site is the main and the best. It is Asia's largest remaining fortress built by European occupiers. Even today the colonial-era buildings inside the fort, function as villas, antique shops, cafes, and restaurants without changing their old fashion.
Galle lighthouse the oldest in Sri Lanka was built in 1848 located in the Galle Fort area. However, the present lighthouse was erected in 1939 due to the old one was destroyed by fire in 1934.
Then visit the Old Nupe Market, Star Fort at Matara, Matara Fort, and Dondra Lighthouse.
The Old Nupe Market (Old Dutch Market) building was used for the market in Nupe. The present building was built in the late eighteenth century but was first built probably by the Dutch.
Matara Fort was originally built by the Portuguese in 1560 and re-built by the Dutch in 1640.
The Star Fort, Matara was built by the Dutch in 1765.
Dondra Lighthouse is located at the southernmost point of the country. It is one of the 4 international lighthouses in Sri Lanka.

You will be pick up at around 6.00 am at the hotel for a blue whale watching trip at Sri Lanka’s southern seas at Mirissa. Approximately 30 min. drive.
By around 7.00 am boat is edging out of Mirissa harbor and if you are lucky, whales can be spotted 30-minutes from the coast. After an hour or two you head back to shore with numerous photos.
Then visit Handunugoda Tea Estate where one of the world's most expensive white tea is produced.
Afternoon relaxes at the Tangalle beach.
In the evening around 6.30 pm went to Rekawa 10 km from Tangalle to see turtles. Between 8 pm to 12 midnight, you can watch the turtles laying eggs at the shore and returning to the sea.
Five marine turtle species including green, loggerhead, hawksbill, olive ridley, and leatherback can be found at the low season from October to January and high season from April to July in Rekawa.
