En-route visit Tantirimale Cave Temple, Madu church, Doric Bungalow, Arippu, Mannar Ketheeswaram temple, and Mannar fort.
Thanthirimale is an ancient Buddhist monastery sprawling extensive boulders spreading over a huge area in the midst of thick forest which gives a panoramic view. The caves at Thanthirimale had been inhabited by the Megalithic man in Sri Lanka where Paleolithic cave paintings and some primitive drawings done by Veddah people were discovered.
Mary’s Church at Madhu located 50 km south-east of Mannar was started to build in 1876, home to the statue of Our Lady of Madhu. The remote village of Madhu has been also sacred to Buddhists and Hindus due to Pattini Devale shrine being built there in the period of 114 – 136 AD.
Ketheeswaram temple or Thirukketeeswaram Kovil, 10 km east of Mannar Town, is one of the five historical Sri Lankan Shiva temples established to protect the island from natural disasters.
Mannar fort was firstly built by the Portuguese in 1560 and rebuilt by the Dutch in 1696.

The Indian epic Ramayana speaks about a bridge called Setubandhanam, a bridge over the ocean connecting Sri Lanka with India. Today it is called Adam’s Bridge and there are 16 islets of 8 belongs to Sri Lanka. Due to the shallowness of the sea in the area, the maritime biodiversity is very high and marine mammals such as Dolphins, Whales, and Dugong can be seen in this area and diversity of fish is also very high therefore the area was declared as a Marine national park and the second islet can be visited.
