- Bird watching is very common in Horton plains national park because birds living freely everywhere in the park. The place called "Áranga pool" is the best place to spot endemic bird species of Yellow-eared Bulbul, Sri Lanka whistling thrush, Sri Lanka white-eye, Dull-blue flycatcher, and Sri Lanka bush warbler.
Most of the highland bird species such as Sri Lanka wood pigeon, Scaly Thrush, Spotted-winged Thrush, Sri Lanka rufous babbler, Ceylon blue magpie, Ceylon hill white-eye, Black-winged Kite, Yellow-eared Bulbul, Pied bush chat, Kashmir red-breasted flycatcher, Common buzzard, Brown baza, Black eagle, Mountain Hawk-eagle and many more can be seen in the Horton plains national park.
