Nil Diya Pokuna
- Nil Diya Pokuna is the most exciting place in Sri Lanka. It can be described as a pond inside a cave or a tunnel complex. That resembles the "Tham Luang Nang Non" of Thailand widely publicized cave rescue in 2018.
It is a deep underground cave not very easily accessible located in the Karandagolla area 10 km south of Ella. You have to enter the underground cave through a small hole and climb down through a steep rocky edge, a thick black tunnel, to reach Nil Diya Pokuna. Halfway down the tunnel, you will reach the Nil Diya Pokuna (blue water lake) the underground lake. It is about one hour climb down.
The cave goes down further you have to dive from the underground lake if you want to explore further. Diving in this cave should only be attempted by scuba divers with full cave training. The underwater survey did not encounter a visible end to the cave. It just keeps going.
